THE ROLE OF CULTURE AND SOCIAL LIFE IN THE FORMATION OF HOUSES IN SUDAN: THE CASE OF TUTI ISLAND HOUSES
 
Culture and social life have a significant impact on the identity of the individuals and their roles, and this influence extends to include their houses and the surrounding environment. Houses in Sudan differ according to the person's beliefs, way of living, and thinking. This study aims to examine the relationship between cultural and social values and houses formation in Sudan. The houses in the study area have a traditional style and obvious cultural values, and its community is characterized by social unity. This research used the analytical method to study the houses' forms and some data collection techniques, such as interviews and questionnaires. The results showed that the culture and social life affect several aspects, such as family structure and privacy, and these influences reflect on the formation of houses in Tuti island. The finding also addressed that the house spaces were designed according to the Sudanese beliefs and values. In the end, the study called to protect the traditional form of the Sudanese house and lay strict rules to preserve the sustainability of the cultural heritage in Sudan. Besides that, it sought to point out the researchers' attention to increase their efforts in the subjects of Sudanese culture, which face major challenges that could affect its values and ideas.
